Not all intimacy products are well-suited to travel. Here is what to consider when choosing something to bring with you.
Size and form factor
Compact products are easier to pack and less conspicuous. Look for products that fit comfortably in a toiletry bag. Many brands design specific "travel editions" of their most popular products at a reduced size.
Power source
Rechargeable products are better for travel than battery-powered ones — you do not need to carry spare batteries or find a specific size in an unfamiliar place. USB-C charging is especially convenient since the cable works with other devices.
Travel lock
A travel lock (sometimes called a "travel mode") prevents the product from switching on accidentally in your bag. Most modern products include this feature, but it is worth confirming before you buy.
TSA and airline travel
Personal vibrating products are permitted in carry-on luggage in most countries. They are treated the same as any other personal electronics. Using a travel lock and packing them in a pouch or storage bag is recommended for practical reasons.
Note Lubricants and gels must follow standard liquid rules (under 100ml in a sealed bag) for carry-on. Larger quantities can be packed in checked luggage.
Water resistance
A water-resistant or waterproof product is more versatile when travelling, particularly if you prefer to use it in the bath or shower in a hotel. Look for an IPX rating — IPX7 means it can be submerged in up to one metre of water for 30 minutes.
